Executive Summary: 
 

Staff was instructed to conduct a comprehensive review of the village’s municipal code and to update or replace any portions that are outdated or no longer applicable. Staff presented the first of five planned ordinances to the FLAGG Committee in February 2022 amending titles 1 and 3, the second in May amending Title 7, and the third in September amending Title 9.  This ordinance represents the fourth of five planned ordinances and contains amendments to some of the outdated sections of Title 13.

 

Staff has organized all recommended changes by category, which include:

  • Use of more inclusive language
  • Outdated titles/responsibilities
  • Procedures that are no longer followed
  • Other

 

The attached ordinance contains 30 proposed changes throughout Title 13 as well as a list of updates by category.

 Recommended Action:
  The Village Manager recommends the Finance, Legal, Administrative, and General Government Committee recommend the Village Board approve an Ordinance amending various sections of Title 13 of the Schaumburg Municipal Code to incorporate process revisions and socially appropriate and contemporary language.
