Staff annually proposes a list of streets which are recommended for improvements for the upcoming construction year to the Engineering and Public Works Committee. After receiving Village Board approval, the team will proceed with the development of plans and specifications for bidding. The approval allows the Village to secure bids early in the construction season.
The proposed FY 25/26 Street Improvement Program is comprised of the following:
- Reconstruction - $7.17 million (5.08 miles)
- Corrective Resurfacing - $1.48 million (2.16 miles)
- Preventative Maintenance - $240,000 (16.75 miles)
Estimated costs are based upon historical square foot costs tracked by our PAVER software program. Actual amounts will be dependent upon bids.
The FY 25/26 Street Improvement Program includes improvements to the Sheffield Towne Area, Kingsport Area, Cutters Mill Area, and others. The selection of street improvements has been coordinated with current projected water main improvements beyond 2025.
The program also includes the reconstruction of approximately 3.46 miles of bike paths. The planned bike path improvements include improvements to the bike paths along Knollwood Drive, Meacham Road, Rodenburg Road, and others.
The FY 25/26 Street Improvement Program will include additional roadway improvements utilizing remaining Rebuild Illinois funds. Engineering staff is anticipating expending $765,000 of Rebuild Illinois funds to repair American Lane from Meacham to Plaza and Plaza Drive from Woodfield Road to Golf Road. Staff is also planning to expend $165,000 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to repair Gregory Lane.
The final scope of the FY 25/26 Street Improvement Program, including professional engineering services for construction and design, will be based on the approved funding. The scope includes:
